Tragedy as Car Plunges into River: Mother and Child Perish
A devastating accident occurred at the Asarkale location. According to reports, the car driven by Dr. Serdar Kıyak veered off course and plunged approximately 30 meters down into the Kızılırmak River. While Serdar Kıyak managed to escape by jumping out of the vehicle, he sustained minor injuries. Unfortunately, his wife Gülşah Karaman Kıyak and their 3-year-old child remained trapped inside the car as it sank into the water.
Upon receiving the distress call, the gendarmerie, medical, and firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene. The lifeless bodies of the mother and child were retrieved from the water by a firefighter diver from Samsun Metropolitan Municipality.
It was revealed that Dr. Serdar Kıyak, who lost his wife and child in the accident, had previously worked at Bafra State Hospital, later gained admission to the Psychiatry Department of OMU Medical Faculty, and continued his education there.
