Fatal Accident: Tragic Death of a Man Falling from Cliffs
A devastating incident took place in the district of Kemah in Erzincan, where Fehmi Elibol, who was climbing steep cliffs to collect cave honey, was found unconscious after hours of search and rescue efforts. Elibol, with fractures detected in various parts of his body, was barely taken down from the mountain and transported to the hospital.
The incident occurred yesterday afternoon near the village of Eriç in the Kemah district. Villagers became concerned when there was no news from Fehmi Elibol, who set out to collect natural honey made by bees in a cave in the mountainous area. Led by the village headman Fethi Bülbül, a group of villagers initiated a challenging search operation despite the harsh terrain.
After approximately 3-4 hours of search, Elibol was found unconscious near the cave. Immediately, the 112 Emergency Service and gendarmerie were informed. In order for the health team to reach the scene, Elibol was carried on a stretcher for about 2 hours in the dark and rugged terrain to reach the ambulance.
After receiving initial treatment at Kemah State Hospital, Elibol was later referred to Erzincan Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital. Following the assessments here, the elderly man, whose condition was critical, was transferred to an advanced hospital in Erzurum. Despite all efforts, Elibol could not be saved.
Following the funeral prayer held at Camii Kebir in Erzincan, Fehmi Elibol was laid to rest in Terzibaba Cemetery.
